Why did I join SLG?
When i first transferred to the University of Houston from Cy-Fair College, I was your typical commuter student. I would just go to my classes, study at the library and leave as soon as I could. I wanted more to my college life than just hitting the books, I wanted to be able to tell my future children that their mother had an unforgettable college experience. That is when I decided that I needed to get involved with an organization. I chose Sigma Lambda Gamma because I absolutely fell in love with the whole idea of an organization whose main goal was to empower ALL women of ALL cultures through five amazing principles. I can say that the principle that most attracted me was that of Academics. I have always pushed myself to obtain the best grades possible, even though I had my set-backs, I definitely obtained my goal of graduating with high honors. Becoming a sister of Sigma Lambda Gamma completely transformed my life! I am a more extroverted person, I have lost my fear of speaking in public, I have met AMAZING women whom I have formed EVERLASTING friendships with and who I know will be there through thick and thin and most importantly I know that we are HERMANAS POR VIDA, SISTERS FOR LIFE!!! |
